DNFing is definitely the answer for me

Thank you for this! It is exactly what I needed to read today!

Back when I was a book blogger, I got reader burnout. At one point, around the time that my dad died, I read nothing but Jane Austen for an entire month. No current novels, no book tours, nothing written after 1900. I simply didn't give a (bleep) about upcoming releases, not with my dad's death, my father-in-law's recent death, my mother-in-law's descent into Alzheimer's, covid ... Every current release seemed stupid and shallow, with too much bad writing that I really, really wanted to be snarky about in my reviews but didn't dare. When I finally got back to book reviewing, I got burned out again within months (my life was still stressful at that moment, too) and I simply stopped reviewing books entirely. I haven't gone back to it. I don't feel bad about this, either.
